Ethical promise
Arts in Health
With a background in Psychology, I have always had a passion for the arts in health and the therapeutic benefits of singing. A lived experience of mental illness and trauma lends, I hope, empathy with a person-centred approach. I believe in the power of connecting to our voice, to support healing.
Ethical Framework
My work covers private practice and freelance projects. Throughout all my work, I operate within an original ethical framework that has been designed and crafted through years of evidence-based research, published works, and professional practice. This framework includes an identification of theoretical, ethical and responsible practice. From first contact, I invite you on a gentle and bespoke journey to find the right fit for you and your needs. I am honest and open about my abilities and where I can best serve - and of course, where I may not. I am lucky to have a community of professionals who I respect and openly refer to if I feel needs are best met by a colleague or peer. This is part of my promise to you. All I ask in return is respect and kindness. For full details of this framework, and how it works in practice, please get in touch.
Boundaries
Working with sensitive populations requires responsible and ethical practice. Part of this responsibility lies within professional boundaries. These are discussed and agreed in writing before the commencement of work. I work at an intersection of psychology, music education, voice pedagogy and singing for health, and I have ensured I am up to date with licences, certifications and best practices. I am transparent about where my expertise begins and ends. This involves ensuring I am competent in the fields I am working within and responsible for safe, ethical practice. The work of therapeutic educational practice is not clinical therapy. I hold a registered BPS psychology degree, however, I am not a clinical therapist. If you are looking for music therapy, I highly recommend the BAMT as a starting point in finding the right clinician for you.

Inclusivity Promise
There are always lessons to be learnt, and no framework or practice is perfect. I can promise, however, that I strive to ensure all my resources and materials that have been crafted over the past two decades are designed to be as inclusive as possible. I hope to honour cultural, gender, neuro and physical diversity throughout the content of my practice. This has been informed by not only my professional development, but by also being vulnerable and open with my students and clients. Everyone I work with, is invited to give me feedback as I learn and evolve.
