A Groundbreaking Guide for Singing Teachers and Vocal Coaches
On this page, you will find a portfolio of work showcasing the stories and influences on my upcoming book, designed for singing teachers and voice coaches who wish to enhance their practice, build their confidence, and expand their tool kit for delivering inclusive voice support for all. The book presents a fresh and innovative framework, designed to enhance voice confidence and vocal relation. Building the framework included a mapping of at least 108 activities, which has been applied to my work with actors, singers, SEND, PMLD and palliative care communities over the past 23 years.
The first of several free resources that will accompany the book will soon be available. To be the first to receive this, future news, further resources, guides and a special pre-order link, sign up for my newsletter.
About
My upcoming book offers a thoughtful and practical approach to inclusive voice work. Divided into three parts, I first guide singing teachers and voice coaches to develop their ethical framework and self-care practices. I then explore the challenges of voice work in a post-pandemic world, with a focus on mental health, neurodiversity and chronic illness.
The final section will introduce a flexible, innovative and research-informed framework, designed to support diverse voices, offering insights, creative activities and reflections to inspire flexible and sensitive voice facilitation. Told through stories and reflections of my students, this handbook will also provide valuable insight into a collaborative approach to voice work.

“We’ve had some very positive collaborations with Abi over recent years, including a singing session at our biennial conference STAMMAFest, which was very well-received. Abi shared her findings with us, exploring the potential benefits of singing therapy for some people who stammer in influencing how they feel about their voices. We’ve always enjoyed our collaborations with Abi!”
— Kirsten Howells.

“The sessions feel safe and nurturing. Time and space are given to just ‘be’ with your voice. I cannot recommend Abi highly enough”.
